Simple Sliders with Cheese and a Grillin’ Giveaway

June 29, 2012 By Amy Kim 6 Comments

I’m participating in Kitchen PLAY’s “30 Days of Outdoor Dining” event, sponsored by LAND O LAKES® 4 Cheese Italian Blend. This cheese is packed with flavor and definitely sings on its own. It’s creamy, tangy, and simply quite cheesy. I catch myself grabbing a slice as an afternoon snack and eating it paired with a few crackers.

I wanted to do something very easy and quick especially when hungry toddlers are buzzing around. Sliders are not only the perfect serving size for tots, they are also great as appetizers or for snacking.

I spotted the method in making these thin patties in a segment on Food Network. It was pretty genius and I don’t think I touched the beef once while forming the patties!  I thought the natural flavor of the beef would be a great partner with this tangy cheese so I lightened up on the seasonings in the original recipe. The result was a tasty morsel that even my 4 year old devoured…willingly!

*Disclosure: This post was sponsored by Land O’Lakes as part of the Kitchen PLAY SideCar series. All opinions given are my own.

Simple Sliders with Cheese

Adapted from Alton Brown’s Mini Man Burgers

1 pound good quality ground beef (15% fat is okay)
1 teaspoon salt
black pepper
6-8 slices of LAND O LAKES® 4 Cheese Italian Blend
8 potato slider buns

1 – Lay a sheet of parchment paper covering a large sheet pan or a cutting board. Place the mound of beef on the paper. Overlay a sheet of plastic wrap that is the same size as the parchment paper. With a rolling pin, start rolling out the beef into roughly a 9 x 12 rectangle. You want a thin sheet of beef, about 1/8-inch thick.

2 – Remove the plastic wrap and evenly sprinkle the salt and pepper on the beef. Then lay the slices of cheese on only one-half of the sheet of beef, overlapping the edges.

3 – Fold the other half of the beef in half covering the cheese. Pat down. With a pizza cutter or a pastry scraper, divide the beef into 8 equal squares.

4 – Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties on one side for 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook the other side for about 3 minutes or until juices run clear. If you’re firing up the grill, before turning on the grill, spray the grill with a nonstick spray. Cook the patties on each side for 3 minutes. You can even use one of these cool contraptions for easy flipping.

5 – Slide cooked patty onto slider bun.

6 – Serve immediately and enjoy!
