We’re video-heavy this week, but here are the three things I’m obsessed about this week!
1 – Jiro Dreams of Sushi
Have you seen this documentary because I haven’t….yet. A “fan” of Kimchi Mom’s Facebook page (thanks N. Curry!) recommended that I see this movie and I can’t believe I hadn’t caught the buzz on it at all! The film is about an 85-year old sushi chef’s pursuit of the perfect piece of sushi, and the pressures his son feels in eventually filling his father’s shoes. Sushi and filial piety. What’s not to love, right? The imagery is amazing and I love the music. I need to see this. Now. Warning: You’ll have a serious craving for sushi after you see this trailer!
2 – Homemade SPAM
It all started with this:
I chimed in on the exchange and somewhere along the way a comment pointed to this post that includes, you got it, a recipe for homemade SPAM! The site is bookmarked and the recipe is on my to-do list. I’m confident that Mr. Rhau (founder and editor of You Fed a Baby Chili?) will certainly not disappoint in his pursuit of the perfect loaf of homemade SPAM! We’ll see if he’s up for a little challenge with yours truly. Ahem.
3 – Olympics 2012
The countdown begins to one of my favorite sporting events ever – The Olympics!! And my love is equal for each of my Olympic children – Summer and Winter. I mean, it’s an excuse to watch a week and a half of non-stop sports action on television from the comfort of my sofa. (But between you and me, I really don’t need an excuse to be in front of the tube.) I’m a sucker for all the inspiring stories and I have a deep admiration for all the athletes. Tears are always shed. Even the ever popular commercial by P&G has already evoked the waterworks from me. Take a look-see if you haven’t already. Makes me want to get all Tiger Mom on my kids…just kidding.
By the way, my two favorite must-see Summer Olympic events are the Opening Ceremony and the marathon. What’s your must-see event?
