Happy 2013! I hope you’ve had a good start to the new year. Here are a few things I’m obsessed about this week.
1 – Apartment Therapy January Cure
Do you need help cleaning and organizing your home? Apartment Therapy is doing this group cure to help you get to a cleaner home by February 1st. Why not, right? I signed up and received my first email today and finished my first assignment (see above). Join me and let’s get organized together!
2 – Culinary Bucket List 2013
Yes, yes I’ve joined the masses. This is most likely the 543rd bucket list you’ve read (or ignored). Here’s mine, so far, in no particular order:
- homemade ramen noodles
- homemade silken tofu – to eventually make soondubu jigae!
- homemade dduk (Korean rice cake)
- homemade sriracha – I’ve made kochuchang (Korean red pepper paste), so why not attempt the rooster?
- homemade kalguksu (Korean hand cut noodles)
country fried steak and gravy – totally random, but I’ve never had it and I always found the name soooo appetizing.- perfecting homemade mandoo (Korean dumpling) wrappers – you may have seen some of my attempts on Facebook.
- gnocchi from scratch
- chile relleno – one of my husband’s favorite Mexican dishes!
feijoada – I will be making this Portuguese/Brazilian bean stew for #SundaySupper on January 13th. Watch for it.
3 – Som Sabadell Flash Mob
Do people still do flash mobs? Apparently so. I love this one and it always puts me in a good mood so I’m sharing it with you. Enjoy.

Love it, Amy!!! And Wow, love the bucket list!! I am making one too! 😛 can’t wait to see yours throughout the year! 🙂
Thanks! We’ll see how it goes…didn’t want to make it too long! 🙂
Hi Amy, I think I might be able to help you if you want to make gnocchi from scratch. I’ve made several different versions, however gnocchi can me made from almost anything. In fact, I’ve made it from ricotta pumpkin puree and russet potatoes before. Any idea what type you’d like to make?
I was thinking either potato or ricotta. Do you have some good basic recipes?
For whatever reason, I just saw your reply–6 months later. Still looking for gnocchi recipes? For either ricotta or potato, my go-to source is Anne Burrell. What really helped my is her cooking demos which can be found on YouTube.
I LOVE bucket lists. I cannot wait to see your homemade sriracha 🙂
I have loaded up on plastic gloves so I’m ready!
Very impressive and ambitious, Amy! Homemade ramen noodles and silken tofu! Looks like 2013 is going to be one winning – and clean – year for you =)
Ramen was on my list last year and I am determined to tackle it this year. I’m a little intimidated by the alkalines I have to work with, but will get over it! 🙂
Started “Spring Cleaning” already. I’m headed over to Apartment Therapy to check out their hints and look for motivation! Country Fried Steak and Gravy sounds like something I need to add to my culinary bucket list too!
I really like receiving cleaning assignments….less stressful for me. So far so good! I’m tackling gnocchi tonight!
Love your bucket list! For chiles relleños, I suggest ordering Hatch chiles from New Mexico. I sent some to my dad for his birthday and they were divine. Happy new year, Amy!
Hi Ann! Are these like Anaheim chilis?
That’s an ambitious and delicious bucket list – I have no doubt you’ll make everything beautifully, Amy! And thanks for the link to Apartment Therapy. I always need a kick in the butt to get organized at home.
