Pantry Organization #POPtober

October 13, 2014 By Amy Kim 5 Comments

Do you have that one cabinet that is overstuffed with goodies and snacks? Where when you open the door, you brace yourself for the avalanche of clipped snack bags and boxes? I have two such cabinets. I love those snack bags with the “zip” closure, but half the time, they never close properly or I just completely mangle the plastic strips to the point where they are rendered useless. Bag clips are good, but only if you consume the contents of the bag within a couple of days before they transform into stale woody morsels. Then you have the crushed boxes that are just piled on top of one another. Here’s a shot of my embarrassingly cluttered snack cabinet. Utterly shameful.

Then there’s my other cabinet above the stove with opened bags of flours, sugars, and other powdery foodstuff. It’s not too bad, but I access these items pretty often and they are not conveniently located.

Do these sights look familiar? Or have I just completely shocked you with these shameful images? Oh, but nary a worry, it’s OXO to the rescue! I bought my first POP Container years ago and the simplicity of the design just won me over. I’m gradually replacing my old mismatched containers with new POP Containers.

How do I love thee, OXO Pop Containers? Let me count the ways…

  • Easy to use – Pop-open lids on the containers and dispensers can be opened with just one hand.
  • Looks great – Flat lids and POP Containers were designed for stacking and the square and rectangular shapes make POP Containers space efficient.
  • Well-made – the containers are clear BPA-free plastic, airtight, and are kid-tested in my household!

Here’s how OXO Pop Containers saved my kitchen! No more cabinet avalanches!

And my counter looks much neater and I can easily scoop out what I need thanks to the large mouths on these containers!

OXO designs each one of their products with the concept of Universal Design in mind – making products and the built environment accessible for everyone – young, old, those with and without disabilities. Having done a stint as a building code and an ADA consultant (American with Disabilities Act), I’m very familiar with the concept and appreciate the inclusion of this concept by OXO. I use OXO kitchen tools everyday, many of which I’ve had for over a decade!

This month, The Container Store has partnered with OXO to fuel our (yes, our!) passion for an organized pantry and kitchen. I simply get giddy and weak in the knees when I walk into The Container Store. It has everything you need for organizing your pantry, kitchen, and much more! And you guessed it, OXO POP Containers are available at The Container Store nationwide or online at www.containerstore.com. Here’s just a few items on my growing wish list of OXO Organization Tools:

In the meantime, can someone help me out with this Lego table explosion in my dining room?

Hello weekend! Upon the request of my dear daughte Hello weekend! Upon the request of my dear daughter, we had kimchi jigae. No tofu in the house so we made do without it and added extra pork belly. 🐷 Kimchi was perfectly ripe and I was able to use leftover galbi tang broth that I had in the freezer.
