A Manzo alla Panna {Beef Roast with a Parmigiano Reggiano and Cream Sauce}

Being a relative newbie to the food blogging world, this is my first Progressive Party! I had never heard of one before last week when I signed onto Kitchen Play. I clicked all over the site to make sure I understood what I was supposed to do. “All I had to do was cook one of the featured recipes and post? Easy enough!”, I thought.  This month’s Inaugural menu was sponsored by Sur La Table. I decided to make the entree, a manzo alla panna, created by Paula of bell’alimento. It was the perfect dish for a Sunday night.

Comfort food...

Although the beef turned out a little more well done than medium, the nutty, smoky, creaminess of the luscious sauce redeemed the beef. The roast was accompanied by a duo of mushroom risotto and sautéed green kale. The bitterness from the greens provided the perfect accent to this rich dish. The combination of  all these flavors and textures were perfect.  But one thing is most certain – the roast would’ve turned out perfectly if I only had the Sur La Table Digital Flip Thermometer! If only…
