It’s been a little nutty around these parts, but I’m back. Did you miss me? I can’t believe it’s August already….the month of absolutely no holidays.
Anyway…
Here are three things I’m obsessed about this week!
1 – A backyard pool grows in Brooklyn
Yes, you read it correctly. We were invited over to our friend’s place for a small pool party the other weekend. They had installed a pool in the back courtyard of their three-story brownstone last summer. Remember when dumpster pools were all the rage in 2009 in the L.I.C.? Well, my friends (who are also award-winning architects here and here) re-purposed an old water tower and made a little urban aquatic haven in their backyard. The industrial vessel fits in perfectly.
2 – Edible Cities by Food Nouveau
Fellow food writer and graphic designer, Marie Asselin, has an awesome food and travel website called Food Nouveau. She has just started this series called Edible Cities where she invites guests to share their impressions of one of their favorite cities and their favorite dish from that city. I was honored to be featured in her weekly series this week and wrote about my Baltimore. The series features cities that are a tad bit more glamorous than B’More such as Budapest, Capri, and, um, Saskatoon. I mean, who knew you could get a bowl of decent pho in Saskatoon?
3 – #CookforJulia for #SundaySupper
I cannot wait for this Sunday, August 5th, to celebrate Julia Child’s 100th birthday with my #SundaySupper buddies! I have been preparing for this event for the last few weeks! Over 50 fellow bloggers from the #SundaySupper movement are planning to participate. Look for us on Twitter (live chat at 7 p.m. EST with hashtag #SundaySupper) and Pinterest! Here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come from yours truly…
