Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Here are the three things I’m obsessed about this week…
1 – Sriracha Lip Balm

2 – Funny(ish) Cookbooks
The other night I was browsing through the aisles of Amazon and stumbled upon these books. Any of them could be the perfect white elephant gift this holiday season.
Cooking with Coolio – Yes, the same Coolio who did Gangsta Paradise. Is there any other?
The Hungover Cookbook – Looks like a nice list of recipes that all sound perfect for a hangover. But if I were in a state of distress, I’d much prefer to have someone make me the dishes while I stayed horizontal on a couch.
Angry Birds: Bad Piggies’ Egg Recipes – Perfect for the Angry Birds (and egg) obsessed. Very cute.
And for the absolute ridiculous factor…
The Coffeepot Cookbook: A Funny, yet Functional and Feasible Traveler’s Guide to Preparing Healthy, Happy Meals on the go Using Nothing but a Hotel Coffeepot…. and a Little Ingenuity! – Really? I mean, REALLY?
3 – Gus on the Go!
Alice from Eat a Duck I Must has been working on an iPhone app called Gus on the Go! while working as a mom of 2 under 2 (sooo been there…). She partnered up with a friend and created a language learning app recommended for toddlers and preschoolers. I downloaded the Korean version and let my kids loose on the phones and they did exactly what they were supposed to. 🙂 It certainly won’t get them to speak Korean fluently, but at least they get exposure to some key vocabulary words. Just a couple of downsides:
1) There are a handful of words that are the Korean-icized English words like heart-tuh (heart), bus-suh (bus), tuh-ruck-uh (truck), and leh-mohn (lemon) just to name a few. I found it a little disappointing, but there are enough other vocabulary words to make up for it.
2) Personally, the price is a little steep for the Korean version and that’s mostly because I’m cheap when it comes to apps (or anything for that matter). There are two different price points ($2.99 and $4.99) and it differs for each version.
But don’t let that stop you from checking it out. The positives certainly outweigh my two minor points. The lessons and the games keep the kids entertained. The repetition through the various games definitely help with memorization. It comes in 10 other languages which is pretty impressive collection. I may just purchase the Italian and Spanish versions for myself!
