Thursday Three – Cookies, Cooking Videos, and Skating

January 24, 2013 By Amy Kim

Didja miss me? Here are three random things I’m thinking about today.

1 – Milk Bar Corn Cookies

Salty, sweet,  and corny. Awesome.

2 – Deep Prep Channel

Salty, sweet, and corny. Okay, maybe not so salty, but definitely awesome. Jesse Smith is the star of Deep Prep Channel on YouTube. His videos are informative and entertaining, and my kids love watching them! They watched the video for Chicken Fried Steak on an endless loop and begged me to make it for them. We followed Jesse’s recipe and it turned out great! My kids had fun crunching the corn flakes!

3 – 2013 US Figure Skating Championships

Here’s a random bit of trivia. It has nothing to do with food or cooking, but I’m a BIG FAN of figure skating and am pretty active with my local figure skating club. USFS Championships (Nationals) is a week-long event that include events from Novice to Senior levels. Nationals started last weekend with the Novice level skaters and today, the Senior level skaters compete and these are the events that are usually televised on NBC. Watch for the Senior Ladies on Saturday! The top Senior skaters will also go on to compete in the World Championships in a couple of months. AND next year’s Nationals are the qualifiers for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi! It’s exciting and I love seeing these young skaters put their best out there. Another bit of trivia – I also judge skating tests and have seen some of the Novice skaters when they were moving up the ranks in their region. Happy Skating!

Great description of the Saturday morning cartoon kid cookies, Amy… Ms. Tosi is indeed an inspiration.

BTW Thank you for the skating link. Skating is dancing on ice. The husband and I met at a West Coast Swing dancing class and are avid ballroom dance fans =)

Ice dancing is actually one of my favorite events. One of these days, when I get some time to myself, I want to take up ice dancing again! I miss it!! The skaters look strong this year!

OMG I can’t wait to try making that chicken fried steak! It’s the Husband’s favourite thing to eat in the world – every time he sees it on a restaurant menu, he orders it. Thanks for introducing me to Deep Prep Channel. I have a feeling I’ll be watching a lot of youtube videos in the near future!
