Thursday Three – Where did September go?

September 27, 2012 By Amy Kim

Oh, hi, hello…how have you been? Here’s this week’s Thursday Three…my random musings on three things that I’m obsessed about!

1 – Mazi Piri Piri Sauce

My husband added a few drops of this elixir to his tomato sauce when he was creating his personal pizza at the Pizza a Casa Pizza School the other weekend. The heat was powerful, but did not mask the tangy complex flavors. My bottle of sriracha has been shoved to the back of the condiment shelf ever since we opened this bottle of Mazi piri piri sauce. It comes out of Asbury Park, New Jersey and was created by Jon Bon Jovi’s former manager, Peter Mantas. (Yeah, Livin’ on a Prayer!) Read more about it in this article in Saveur. Not sure where it’s available, but I bet it has made its way into your local Whole Foods Market.

2 – gojee

Gojee curates food AND drink recipes from over 200 food bloggers! The site itself is a simple and clean interface with gorgeous full-screen photos. Sometimes I just visit to scroll through photos of scrumptiousness. Yes, I do! Oh, and here’s my bio on the site, and my ONE featured recipe for ddukboki. I hope to add more soon to their line-up!

They also have an app for the iPhone (of course). Just like the gojee website, the app is clean, simple, and easy to use. And it’s free!

3 – Top Chef Masters (don’t worry…no spoiler!)

I admit it, I’m a Top Chef junkie. I have not missed an episode or season of  Top Chef, Top Chef All-Stars, and Top Chef Masters. I will most likely get sucked into Life After Top Chef starting next week. But I have to admit, this season of Top Chef Masters has been a little ho-hum. And I also wished that they included more of judge Frances Lam‘s (Salon.com and Gilt Taste) comments. Regardless, I was not disappointed with tonight’s finale between Chefs Kerry Heffernan and Chris Cosentino. My favorite chef tonight and all season was Chris Cosentino or as I like to call him, Mr. Dimples! I won’t spoil the outcome if you haven’t watched your DVR’d episode, but I have to say that I really loved the Elimination Challenge and was really impressed with each chef’s approach to the challenge. Are you a fellow Top Chef junkie?

I LOVE Top Chef (though Top Chef Masters a little less). I had no idea that a new Top Chef spinoff was starting next week — thank you for the tip!

it does, but not sure. definitely sounds Asian and the artwork on the site looks Murakami-esque.

Thanks for stopping by Sarah! Not sure if the sauce is available outside the tri-state area, but you can always check or I can send you a bottle! 🙂 Have you seen the TC finale yet?
