Thursday Three – Pop, Nosh and Vote

October 25, 2012 By Amy Kim

Did you miss me? I’ve been busier than usual, but here I am! I hope you had a good couple of weeks. Here are three things that I’ve been obsessed about…

1- Microwave Popcorn

No more chemically-tasting-butter-topped popcorn. You can pop your own popcorn in your microwave! Alice at Hip Foodie Mom posted this easy do-it-yourself microwave popcorn recently on Facebook. You need: 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels and 1 paper bag (standard lunch bag size). Pour kernels into the bag, Fold the top over a couple of times. Microwave the kernels like you would any other store-bought microwave popcorn or for 2-3 minutes. Toss with your favorite toppings while the popcorn is still warm.

Michelle at Taste as you Go recently wrote a post which includes a more detailed recipe for parmesan popcorn. Despite her love for Boston sport teams, I still love her and her tweets! 😉

I made popcorn using this method one afternoon and my kids told me, “Mom, you’re the best popcorn maker in the world.” Gotta love that.

 2 – NoshOn.it

NoshOn.It is a relatively new daily recipe email that features a new hand-picked recipe everyday. You can customize the emails that you receive from these various themes – meatless, drinks & apps, healthy, world cuisine, sweets, seasonal, and gluten-free. It’s hard NOT to select all of them! And each email includes one expert cooking tip to step up your game in the kitchen. Check them out! Oh and by the way, I was just featured yesterday with my recipe for steamed eggplant.

3 – VOTE!

No, I haven’t entered a cooking contest or anything, but there’s a pretty big election coming up in about 12 days on November 6th. 🙂 Don’t forget to get out there and vote. Write it on your hand, put it in your Outlook, write it down in your Filofax! Don’t know if you’re registered? Don’t know where to go to vote? Go to canivote.org!  Let’s exercise our right to vote!

I’ve always wondered if you could microwave popcorn in just a plain paper bag — how lovely to know you can AND it makes the best popcorn in the world! Yum!

Haha, thanks for being my blogging buddy despite my love for the Red Sox.

PS. I heart baseball. The other Boston teams don’t really get my support. 😉
